Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir
Position of Accompanist
The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir was established in 1903 and are considered the oldest Male Voice Choir in the East Midlands, with a rich musical history, keen enthusiasm and commitment amongst its members for its future.
Following the retirement of its Accompanist after 23 years loyal service, we are seeking to appoint a new Accompanist to work closely with our MD and Assistant MD.
The choir is based at the Dale Club, Jacksdale, Notts. Weekly rehearsal is on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The choir is currently 21 members in size, balanced and actively seeking new members. Most concerts take place on Saturday evenings, but some flexibility is required for concerts and commissioned performances. The choir aim to tour yearly, usually over the early May Bank Holiday.
The Accompanist appointed will need to play all parts for learning in rehearsal and play accompaniment in rehearsals and concerts, including for soloists.
A good standard of sight reading is needed and also the ability to follow the MD and adapt the music, if required. The position offers a wonderful opportunity to work with and learn from other professional musicians and a talented, friendly choir. Whether you have years of experience or are seeking to widen your experience, we would be pleased to hear from you.
The choir considers itself to be an important part of the local community and its aims are to raise as much money as possible for various charities and good causes by singing in concert locally and further afield, often with other choirs.
The choir does not have an Assistant Accompanist at present but is able to call on a number of experienced Accompanists to cover holidays etc for the main Accompanist.
Remuneration for this position is negotiable.
